Cat Cafe + Raccoon Cafe in Seoul

A few weeks ago in November 2016, I took a trip into Seoul (about an hour by train) and visited a cat cafe and a raccoon cafe!

A what now?

Animal cafes are a growing trend here in Asia, especially Korea and Japan. In cities like Seoul, many people live in places where you can't have pets, or are very busy and can't take care of a pet.

As a result, there's cat cafes! Go, buy a drink, and play with kitties! The one we found is in Myeongdong area.

The kitties were super cute and this was the highlight of my day. There were toys so you could play with them, and blankets and boxes so you could sit on the floor and coax them onto your lap.

The employees were really nice too. One of them had a cat that was totally obsessed with him. It would climb up him and sit on his shoulder and give him kisses all over his face.

Since raccoons apparently aren't common in Asia, they're considered unique and exotic. There are two raccoon cafes that I know of in Seoul, we went to the one that is located near Hyehwa Station.

This cafe was located above Etude House and Etude House cafe. You take off your shoes at the entrance, put on a pair of slippers, and enter the front of the cafe. There you pay, and can store your stuff (there are a few shelves, and also you can rent a locker). Then you enter the cafe, and can order your drink (included with purchase) whenever you want to. Just keep an eye on it, raccoons love to get into stuff!

Mostly the raccoons weren't interested in us at all, but walked around and looked for ways to escape. They were hard to get pictures of, because they were never still! Except for when they all decided it was nap time and disappeared into the rafters to sleep.

SO CUTE.
